Phasma gigas is a gigantic species of stick insect, originating from Papua New Guinea. I used to breed this species some years ago and the huge females are able to lay eggs without a mate. The markings vary but the wings always show a pattern of brown and orange and forewings often have lichen camouflage patches.
This is a large female specimen, body length 21cm, wingspan 20cm.
