The Giant Thorny Devil Stick Insect, Eurycantha horrida.
This XL male & female pair were captive bred by me, and died naturally, after successful breeding.
Male: 144mm
Female: 180mm
(Sizes from head to tip of abdomen) Very large even for this incredible giant species. These specimens have been painstakingly fully gutted, cleaned out and treated with borax, including the enlarged femurs of the male, before being stuffed and sealed to recreate their full life appearance.
This species originates from Papua New Guinea, Popondetta region. Please note these are not the same as the more.common, smaller Eurycantha calcarata, they are.much larger and rarer in collections.
Outer frame dimensions 14 x 12" glass fronted, wall hanging fixture on the back.
I get my frames custom made to the sizes needed for each piece, and they allow a good view all the way round the specimens.
