Very large examples of Eurycantha horrida, the giant thorny devil stick insect.
This species originates from Papua New Guinea, these ones were raised by me in my captive bred colony, they are selectively bred for size, and are larger than most others around!
Male & Female pair. The male has huge spurs on the hind legs which they use in fights with other males, and for defense. The females are incredibly chunky, always carrying lots of eggs as adults, and the abdomen is tipped with a large sharp ovipositor for egg laying.
Body size excluding antennae:
Male 145mm
Female 180mm
The specimens lived their full natural life, and preserved once dead. I fully gutted them, treated them, and stuffed them to preserve the colour and shape. They are fully dried and set in position ready to add to your collection. They are not pinned.
